Podtrac Update - Emailed to me this morning

As always, thanks for being part of Podtrac. We thought we would bring you up to date with some developments at Podtrac and podcast advertising.

In this update, we'll cover -
1. Podcast Advertising - New advertising campaigns
2. Podtrac Measurement - New reports and insights from Podtrac
3. Podtrac Player Update - Important new code for the Podtrac Player
4. Podtrac Survey - Helpful data to podcasters

1 - Podcast Advertising - New advertising campaigns

Podtrac is happy to report that we have had a remarkable response from major advertisers to the services we're providing them. Some of the podcast advertising campaigns we have developed to date include: Castrol, HBO, Honda, and USA Network. Podtrac has several other campaigns in the works for a number of other brands.

In choosing podcasts for their campaigns, advertisers are using demographic data from the Podtrac Survey, download data from the Podtrac Measurement service, as well as Podtrac Content Ratings and other information podcasters are entering in their Podtrac Profiles.

To best position your podcast for upcoming advertising campaigns, please be sure you are providing advertisers with all the information they need by using the Podtrac Survey and Podtrac's Measurement service for your podcast. Also, please take a moment to log into Podtrac and update your Podtrac Profile.

2 - Podtrac Measurement - New reports and insights from Podtrac

Many of the hundreds of podcasters using Podtrac's Measurement Service tell us that Podtrac's new measurement reports are better then those provided by any other service. Below are some examples of reports for a fictional "Fantastic Podcast":

This report tells you how many downloads you're receiving today from podcasts posted last week, or three months ago

This report tells you how many are accessing your podcast from iTunes and the next most popular podcatcher for your podcast

This report tells you which countries your listeners and viewers are coming from

We encourage you to use Podtrac's free measurement service so that you can begin to spot important trends over time and in sources of traffic for your podcast. It's also one of the best ways to make sure advertisers are considering you for upcoming advertising campaigns.

It's easy for you to start getting reports like these for your podcast. For MP3 files, the Podtrac Prefix to use in the naming convention of your individual media files is: http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3?

Of course there is a similar Podtrac Prefix for video and enhanced podcast formats as well. All the details are available online. Just log into your Podtrac account, and start Podtrac Measurement for your podcast today.

3 - Podtrac Player Update - Important new code for the Podtrac Player

Just recently, Podtrac made an update to the Podtrac player. Because of this change, it will be necessary for you to update the code on your website with new code in order for the Podtrac Player to function properly.

The new code for the Podtrac Player for your podcast is available at Podtrac.com. Just log into your account and click "Get the Podtrac Player."

4 - Podtrac Survey - Helpful data to podcasters

As we have mentioned before, the Podtrac Survey is incredibly meaningful to advertisers to help them decide which podcasts provide them with the best fit for their targets. But it's also proving to be a valuable tool for podcasters to help them improve their podcasts. Many podcasters have told us that information they learn from their Podtrac Survey has given them the important insights they need to make their podcasts even better. Some podcasters have shortened or lengthened their podcast, added extra episodes per week, or changed or added regular features or topics, all from feedback they received from the Podtrac Survey.

To date, the Podtrac Survey has been completed by more than 55,000 podcast listeners and viewers. If you haven't already, we encourage you to add a link to the survey on your website. You'll find your unique survey link when you log into Podtrac.

As Always...Thanks!

From all of us at Podtrac, thanks for working with us to help evolve this emerging space, and to provide advertisers with the data they need to make advertising decisions with confidence in your podcast.
